Unfortunately, after 100 years of making exquisite rattan furniture, Ficks Reed, as of January 2011, has gone out of business. Finding refurbished Ficks Reed furniture has become a recent hobby of mine. One Kings Lane recently came out with a coveted collection of Ficks Reed furniture, and of course included some magnificent Dorothy Draper items to top off the collection.

One of my favorite blogs, The Food Dog Blog, recently featured Luxe Artifacts, a store on etsy. This led to my most recent obsession and numerous hours of perusing the site. After many "palm beach, chinoiserie and rattan" searches later, I put together some of my favorite Etsy finds.

I've recently started nurturing some air cleaning products in my home. Boy what a difference it makes on my allergies. And it really helps neutralize any smells you may be have. As I mentioned before, Moose is my baby and he is an English Lab. He is a family member not a dog, so he goes everywhere in the house and sleeps in our bed. Making sure our house doesn't smell like a dog lives there is important to me. Thank goodness for house cleaning plants! An added bonus, I feel a little palm beach chic with my new plants!

I'm trying to get my hubby on board with the Thrill of Dorothy Draper's Brazilliance. I really want to wallpaper our dining room with Brazilliance, but I'd settle for some beautiful re-upholstered chairs similar to the ones I found on One Kings Lane. A girl can dream!

Hi we're Molly and Amy – devoted sisters and true midwesterners, through and through. Both have a passion for all things preppy and bright. Amy is the classy one, Molly is the creative one. Both a little crazy.

Preppy orprep refers to an American subculture often associated with private preparatory schools, though less popular today than 25 years ago. Prep has become a colloquialism in the United States and has largely replacedpreppy in modern usage. Characteristics of preps in the past, include a particular speech, vocabulary, dress, mannerisms, and etiquette, reflective of an upper-class upbringing.

Preppy-influenced fashion trends emerged in the 1960's. These classic ensembles of the 1960's and 1970's include tailored wrap and shift dresses with a refined style. Such clothing often includes elements drawn from typical preppy style, such as nautical stripes, pastel colours, or equestrian details. Some "cultural icons" of preppy style include Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy and the Duchess of Cambridge.
